No News is Good News!

No News is Good News! Let's stick with that, because it's probably true.
Whenever I go MIA for a few days w/o an email or blog post, I apologize in advance, but it's likely due to other, more exciting things that surfing the internet in Madrid ;)

I also apologize for the Espanglish that permeates my writing. Look it up on Google Translate if you have to ;)

Yesterday was one of those MIA days, jam-packed. Totally fun. Here's how it went down:

10:00a--Met up with Rory and Carolina at a Cafe to eat breakfast. Yum! Went from there straight to the UEM for an Orientation at 11:00am

12:30p--Susan picked us up and took us out to lunch. It was a) delicious, b) pleasant, c) long, or d) all of the above. The correct answer is D, and I'll tell you why:
a) Delicious--We had a four-course meal. Very filling. And very typical of Spain to have a lot of options! First was un Cafe con Leche, y pan. (Coffee and bread. When ordering a coffee, you have to specify "with milk" otherwise they just give you a shot of espresso!) Then there were two components of the main course. I started with un redondo de mushrooms and eggs, fried with oil, and served with salt, arriba de little crunchy palitos. Que rico! After that I was served marinated pork loins, with a tomato-based Moroccan sauce, and fries. Dessert was my favorite part: flan de queso, which tasted like cheesecake, but looked like flan. And I drank LOTS of water and felt incredibly llena!
b) Pleasant--We just spent the whole afternoon talking about Spain, our experiences, the program, expectations, the food, etc. Such good company!
c) Long--the whole outing lasted about four hours. Also very common in Spain.
d) ... the correct answer.

Around 4:30--went home.

6:00--met up again with Rory and Carolina to buy our public-transportation tickets, and then went to the gym at UEM. Ran on the treadmill, did some crunches... gym equipment must be universal, lol.

8:30--came home, took a shower. Dinner smelled great.

9:30--Dinner: cured ham, eggplant, green been salad, brie wedges, and champagne. To top it off: Spanish coco truffles, and Berger Cookies =)

10:30--went to a bar with Rory, Carolina, and Javier. I drank a beer that I can actually tolerate! It's called Shandy. haha

11:00--left the bar, and went to meet up with some other American girls who we met at the University Orientation, Crystal and Jenna. It was Crystal's 21 birthday yesterday... lo cual would have been mucho more exciting si fueramos en los EEUU. jaja. But we just hung out for a while...

1:00a--Javi and I came home, turned on a movie, and then I ended up sleeping through part of it because it was in Spanish. Lol. When it was over, Javi and I talked for a while before we went to bed around 4:30am. Whoohoo!

Ima night owl in Spain tambien ;)
