#Culturaldifferences.

Who would’ve thought that people in Spain would be OFFENDED by these things??

(Granted, these things are kind of looked down upon in the US, too, but people wouldn’t speak to strangers with such negativity in the US! I mean, for real, this a psychology major who is used to pushing the boundaries of social norms. Come on.)

(Also, note: tone-of-voice and specific word-choice has been lost in translation.)

Setting: Computer Lab at UEM
Situation: I printed a one-page document.

Reaction: “Uh, who printed this? You should have said something. Don’t you know better?”

What I did wrong: Sent a document to the printer, without first putting in my own paper.

Setting: A garden at La Alhambra, Granada

Situation: I stepped down from a curb, to have my picture taken.
Reaction: “Woah—I don’t think you can do that! They’ll get upset with you.”

What I did wrong: Put my foot on the edge of a flower bed.

Setting: a supermarket

Situation: I left the supermarket, without buying anything.
Reaction: “Yea, but, you can’t go out that way!”

What I did wrong: Walked through an aisle where there was no attendant.
